2016 Decennial Vintage

The 2016 Riserva Decennial Vintage was born from a rare gesture: setting aside, from the very day of bottling, a small number of bottles destined to mature slowly in the historic cellars of Badia a Coltibuono.

After ten years of rest, these bottles now return to the light, each marked with a “10 Years” seal as testimony to the time that has shaped them.

The 2016 vintage is remembered as one of the most extraordinary in Chianti Classico: an almost perfect natural balance, a healthy harvest, slow and steady ripening, and a season capable of blending energy with elegance. From these ideal conditions come wines of depth and harmony, with remarkable ageing potential.

After a decade, the Sangiovese of Badia a Coltibuono reveals a full and authoritative voice. Organic farming, the measured use of oak, and respect for long ageing periods yield a wine with a clear and distinctive identity, where authenticity and longevity meet.

In the glass, the Riserva now shows itself poised and mature: the fruit has gained intensity and breadth, spicy notes intertwine with evolved nuances, while a still-vibrant freshness supports the palate. The tannins, now perfectly integrated, lead to a long, firm, and coherent finish, capable of telling the story of the time it holds within.

A Riserva that celebrates not only a vintage, but a vision: preserving the past in order to reveal, patiently, all its beauty.
